Sunshine Coast, B.C. – General Manager and Head Coach Brad Wingfield announced today that the team has traded for the playing rights to 2005-born forward Nathan Hughes and 2005-born forward Laszlo Istvanffy from the Quesnel River Rush.

Nathan Hughes (6’4”, 208 pounds) spent last season with the Oceanside Generals and North Okanagan Knights – now Quesnel River Rush. The Nanaimo product had two points (1-1) in 24 regular-season games with the Generals and two points (0-2) in 10 regular-season games with the Knights.

Laszlo Istvanffy (6’3”, 215 pounds) suited up in one PJHL game with the Richmond Sockeyes before spending the rest of the 2023-24 season with the North Okanagan Knights. The Gibsons product produced eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 41 games with the Knights.

“We are certainly pleased to bring Laszlo home and Nathan closer to home. They are going to be huge for us, giving us familiarity, veteran leadership, and a huge physical presence in our lineup,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brad Wingfield.

The organization would like to welcome Nathan Hughes and Laszlo Istvanffy to the Coastal Tsunami, which will begin its preseason in August.
